Our first trip of 2023 began with a wonderful group of guests onboard the classically-styled MS Cape Race. Spring had quickly transitioned to summer in Svalbard, though we were still quite able to find areas freshly emerging from months of snow. Sea ice from the Arctic Ocean was still packed hard against the northern coast of Spitsbergen, and as a result we were able to delve deep into the highlights of Svalbard’s west coast - and it did not disappoint! Throughout our time around Spitsbergen, we were able to enjoy colonies of migratory birds, Zodiac cruises to glacier fronts of towering blue ice, and multiple hikes through the stark terrain of the polar tundra. We were pleased to have accomplished expedition photographer, Yuri Choufour, onboard with us. Yuri was able to capture our 8-day expedition through Svalbard through a series of wonderful wildlife portraits, polar landscapes, and group experiences of this rewarding journey.
