After finishing our first trip of the season, we greeted our next group of guests in Longyearbyen and then boarded MV Villa for another trip around the north end of Spitsbergen before diving down into the Hinlopen Strait. Seasonal change happens quickly in Svalbard, and we saw quite a bit more snowmelt and shifts in sea ice coverage. This enabled us to both explore the sea ice a bit further south in the Hinlopen Strait as well as perform a couple more hikes throughout our expedition. Again, we were fortunate enough to be joined by accomplished photographer, Yuri Choufour, who was able to document our 8-day expedition through Svalbard and the wonderful wildlife, landscapes, and experiences of this rewarding journey.
